Coast Industrial Systems, Inc. has designed and installed two turn-key Paint Finishing Systems at the Goodrich Aerospace Mexicali facility. These systems were designed as a looped & floor mounted Tow-line conveyor with enclosed spray booth and gas catalytic infrared oven.
Goodrich Aerospace applies Standard and High Temperature aircraft primer utilizing Graco™ AirPro HVLP applicators. These primers are applied to engine nacelles, thrust reversers and attendant parts produced within the facility. Boeing and Airbus are some of the primary consumers of Goodrich product.
Product is transported on carts through the six stations within the loop. Starting with loading of the product & passing on to the staging area where parts are prepped before being coated. After staging parts then move on to the spray booth where they are coated using gravity fed Graco™ AirPro spray guns; once coated the parts move to the flash cure area where they are given time to set & expunge any gaseous build up which may cause a defective finish. Lastly the part passes through the infrared oven for final curing & then processes into the unloading area. This system is controlled by the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control which governs the entire system along with individual components that allow for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) control.
This system design increased throughput while significantly decreasing operating costs for Goodrich Aerospace Mexicali.
